Salamander Genome Project
The Salamander Genome Project (SGP) is funded by the National Institutes of Health (R24OD010435) to develop genomic and bioinformatic resources for the Mexican axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum). Specifically, transcripts are being discovered to generate models for protein-coding genes, gene expression tools are being developed and applied in studies of regeneration and metamorphosis, the genome is being mapped, and an effort is underway to obtain a reference genome sequence. Sal-Site is also a product of the SGP.
